E-Textiles

Brainstorming:

We threw around many ideas when we were brainstorming, though we were restricted to only six LEDs and one battery pack. For example, we wanted to do an armband but we decided against it because we came up with a better idea. The better idea was a glove with LEDs on the tip of each finger and one in the centre of the palm with the battery pack on the back of the hand. All of the electronics are sewn on the outside of the glove for easy of access. We decided against using the twinkler because the twinkle was a little too slow for our liking and I prefer solid colours. I sketched up a drawing of the glove and this is it.

This is our working prototype where we used alligator clamps instead of the conductive thread.

When we actually started sewing it was a lot harder to make it work perfectly like the wires overlapped when we moved the fingers and caused the circuit to short circuit itself and somehow it wouldn't turn the lights on after that. It was also really hard to see the point where it was shorting because the glove and the thread were exactly the same colour, we thought that would be a benefit at the beginning but it really wasn't.

That is what the finished version of the glove looked like. In this challenge I learned how to sew and the difficulty of building a working E-textile circuit.
