Build-A-Box
In this challenge we were asked to build a box that had a hinged lid and could hold two plastic balls. I was paired with Leaf for this challenge. We started by dividing up what we were going to do, I was assigned to building the motorized lid and the gear ratios, (which were painfully hard), I also worked on the sensors and buttons. Leaf was assigned to build the frame and program the sensors. The finished copy of our box opened by waving your hand in front of it and closed by pressing the button.
The whole challenge was a lot of fun, we got to mess around with the basic ideas of robotics and the building of this type of lego. Even though we encountered some annoyances we overcame them and ended up with ETAB (Eve the amazing box). The most frustrating part of this build was getting the gear ratios right because some sort of fit but only a few actually fit perfectly. We fixed this through trail and error. We are currently working on an automated latch.
